INSTRUCTIONS ABOUT DRESS CODE AND ACADEMIC REGALIA

Dear Degree Recipients,

Please note that in order to receive your degree in person, you have to be dressed in your academic regalia. The academic regalia will be a khadi Angavastra which you will have to collect from SPA Bhopal campus between 10:30 AM - 02:00 PM and later till 03:30 PM from IISER Campus on 13th October, 2017. This will be issued to you to place around your neck with equal length hangs.

Please note that these angavastras will not be issued on 14th October and you will not be able to attend Convocation Ceremony without the academic dress. For the ceremony you are advised to wear off-white coloured plain kurta with dark colour trousers. Girls are also advised to wear off-white saree/ kurta with dark colour trousers. Only those students will be given degree in person who have attended the rehearsal on 13th October, 2017. Hence the last reporting time for the convocation is 03:30 PM on 13th October, 2017.

GUIDELINES FOR DEGREE RECIPIENTS

October 13, 2017

  1. Graduands are requested to participate in the mandatory rehearsal on October 13, 2017 at 04:15 PM at Auditorium, L5, LHC, IISER Bhauri Campus. Reporting time is 03:30 PM sharp.
  2. Please collect your convocation stole from SPA Campus between 10:30 AM to 01:00 PM and then from L3, IISER Campus between 02:00 PM and 03:30 PM. Carry your Institute ID card with you for identification. The convocation stole would remain with you as a memento.
  3. Please collect entry passes for yourself, parents/spouse and other invited members between 10:00 AM to 01:00 PM from Office of Academic Affairs, SPA Bhauri Campus. Please ensure that all your invitees carry ID cards. Please note that you may be denied entry in absence of proper ID cards, invitation card and entry passes.

October 14, 2017

  1. Please reach the LHC (L6/L11) by 02:00 PM on October 14, 2017. Please carry your entry pass and Institute issued ID cards and stole.
  2. You should be dressed in your convocation stole. Please line up in an orderly fashion and follow instructions given by the faculty-in-charge till you are called out to join the academic procession.
  3. Maintain the solemnity of the function.
  4. Please limit your guests (parents/spouse/other invitees) to a total two. Also please have them carry their entry pass. For married graduands your both parents and spouse may join. Current students cannot be your invitees unless they are related with you.
  5. The Convocation Ceremony is a sacred ceremony; please maintain decorum and dignity befitting the occasion.
  6. Children below 12 years are not allowed in the Convocation Hall (L5).
  7. Do not bring water bottles, juice cartons, and edible items into the auditorium.
  8. For security reason, you are not permitted to bring any electronic gadgets like camera, tablets and bags etc inside the auditorium.
  9. Please ensure that your vehicles, if any, are parked in the parking lot only.
  10. The entire audience will remain standing at their respective seats as the Academic Procession enters and proceeds towards the dais, and will continue to remain standing until the end of the Institute prayer.
  11. The Chairperson, Board of Governors, will declare the First Convocation open, which will be followed by award of degrees.
  12. Degrees will be awarded to all degree recipients (whose names are printed in the Convocation Brochure).
  13. The candidates will line-up (in accordance with their roll numbers along the left (facing dais)) aisle and proceed as their names are called out, to the podium via the left stairs, receive the degree, alight from the podium via the right stairs, and return to their respective seats via the right aisle. While moving to the dais for receiving the degree from the Chairperson, Senate, they should bow to the dignitaries seated on the podium mid-stage, and also bow to the Chairperson, Senate before receiving the degree. Please ensure that at no time your back is turned to the dignitaries.
  14. The Chairperson, Senate will admit and charge them to be worthy of the degrees conferred on them.
  15. One degree recipient will read out the pledge in English and all the degree recipients will stand up and take the oath by reciting the same.
  16. The medals will then be presented by the Chief Guest.
  17. Audience will stand during the National Anthem.
  18. While Academic Procession will leave the auditorium, the audience will remain standing.
  19. The audience will exit the hall via the route instructed by the faculty ONLY when the announcement is made by the faculty member.

Academic Procession

The Academic Procession will consist of two groups, graduands and dignitaries. The graduands dressed in the academic regalia will assemble in the designated room and will line up for the procession at the designated times as instructed by a faculty member.

Once all graduands have occupied their seats in the auditorium, the dignitaries also donning academic regalia, led by the Registrar will proceed to the auditorium to occupy their seats on the dais.

Procession will be led by Registrar, followed by members of Board and Senate and then the Director, Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, Chairperson.

On the dias central place would have three chairs for the Chief Guest, Chairperson BoG and Director. On one side members of the Board of Governors would sit and on other side members of senate would occupy the seats. Academic procession will leave the hall in reverse order after the ceremony, but would be led by Registrar.

Award of Degrees and Other Events

The entire audience will remain standing at their respective seats as the Academic Procession enters and proceeds towards the dais and will continue to remain standing until the end of the Institute prayer. Following the prayer, dignitaries will be felicitated and the convocation will be opened by the Chairperson, Board of Governors. Thereafter, a report of the Institute will be presented by the Director. Thereafter, the award of degrees will commence.

Following the award of degrees, various medals will be presented by the Chief Guest.

The Chairperson, Board of Governors will then address the audience and invite the Chief Guest to deliver the Convocation address. The National Anthem will then be played. Thereafter, the ceremony is declared closed and the procession leaves the hall.
